PROGRAM
Contributions
This workshop brings together different perspectives for the empirical studies on discourse and argumentation in public policy, offering an opportunity to present research developed by WG1 members over the course of the COST Action. We encourage submissions regarding discourse and argumentation studies, which take into account the different actors that take part in public deliberation: policymakers, citizens, activists, different forms of (social) media, private companies, educational institutions and others. In particular, we welcome approaches from different disciplines, including argumentation studies, discourse analysis, conversation analysis, linguistics, discursive psychology and communication. Because WG1 studies empirical discourse in the European context, we do not limit our analyses to the English language: we particularly welcome contributions on other languages and/or on multilingual corpora.
Objectives
This workshop will bring forward existing collaborations among WG1 members, focusing on the cross-fertilization of different perspectives that has been a crucial characteristic of the scientific exchanges among members of this Working Group throughout the action. There will be time for an open discussion regarding future avenues of collaboration: this workshop will represent an opportunity for members coming from different disciplinary traditions to develop joint projects building on the existing network developed within APPLY.
Please send your 400-word abstract (reference list not included) to
sara.greco@usi.ch, barbara.decock@uclouvain.be, and sara.cigada@unicatt.it.
Please consider that, unless regulations will change, the workshop will take place in person.
